In the immediate Po`ipu area, most condominium and hotels have tennis courts on the premises. If you want to have a really special game, go to the Grand Hyatt Resort and Spa, 808-742-1234, www.kauai.hyatt.com. The resort has four courts available for $30 an hour. Reservations are required. There’s also a pro shop and lessons are given.

Kiahuna Swim and Tennis Club, 808-742-9533, offers 10 courts for rent at $10 an hour. They have both hard and synthetic grass courts. The pro shop stocks tennis attire and balls, also providing racquet rentals, racquet re-stringing, and lessons with the tennis pro. If you don’t want to pay for tennis there are two options at no charge.

Koloa Park has two lighted courts. You can find them on Maluhia Road. If you’re heading west on Kaumualii Highway, turn left onto Maluhia Road to Koloa Town. You’ll find the courts on the left almost at the end of road before Koloa Town.

Kalawai Park in Kalaheo also has two lighted courts. To find the courts, drive west on Kaumualii Highway, turn right on Puuwai Road and then right again almost immediately, staying on Puuwai Road. The courts are in Kalawai Park on the left side.
