Kauai North Shore - Hanalei
& Princeville
Island of Kauai
Adventures on Land - Biking
For mountain bikers, one of the more popular options on the island is
the Powerline Trail. This is a tough but rewarding challenge.
It follows a powerline that connects the north shore with the east side
of Kaua`i. The
trail takes you into the middle of the island, offering views of Mount
Wai`ale`ale.
If you need to rent a bike, Pedal n Paddle,
808-826-9069, www.pedalnpaddle.com,
at Ching Young Village in Hanalei, has mountain bikes for rent at $20
a day or $80 a week. For road riding, you can rent a cruiser bike and
cruise the roads of Princeville, which are generally wide enough to accommodate
cyclists. You can also ride around the sidestreets
of Hanalei and along the beaches. Note that the road past Hanalei toward
Ha`ena is narrow, with no shoulder to ride on.
Pedal n Paddle also has tandem bikes for $10 a day and cruisers
for $10 a day or $30 a week.
