Kailua-Kona Day Spa (75-5725 Alii Dr, Kona Marketplace, 329-5048). It’s hard to believe this spa is just off the bustle of Alii Drive. The day spa offers a range of treatments, such as massage, facials, body wraps and waxing services. Use of an infrared sauna, steam room and the Jacuzzis on the back lanai is included with treatments lasting at least 55 minutes, or separately at $29 for two hours. The bargain here is the $45 student massage, or $55 with an advanced apprentice. Call ahead for availability. Open 8 am-8 pm daily.

Hawaii Healing Ohana (75-5799 Alii Dr, Alii Sunset Plaza, 331-1050,
www.hawaiihealingohana.com). This new “holistic health spa and natural living center” uses language like “massage modalities,” “alternative health disciplines,” and “our patent pending products are free of parabens.” In laymen’s terms, they offer acupuncture, massages like hot stone massage, scrubs with deep sea salt or raw island sugar, body wraps, facials, waxing, foot and hand reflexology and aroma steam therapy. One employee said that a 30-minute session in the infrared sauna burns 900 calories (so you can eat outside at Lava Java guilt-free afterward). They also offer QiGong, Vinyasa yoga and Pilates classes for $14. Open 9 am-6 pm Mon-Fri, 9 am-5 pm Sat, 10 am-4 pm Sun.

Clairvoyant Center of Hawaii (75-5909 Alii Dr, 329-ROSE, www.clairvoyanthawaii.com). Located a few blocks south of the Alii strip, the Clairvoyant Center of Hawaii specializes in “spiritual training, healing and wellness.” There are free spiritual healings Mondays from 5-6 pm and Saturdays from 1-3 pm. On the fourth Tuesday of each month there
is a clairvoyant abilities demonstration from 7-9 pm. There are also massage treatments, guided meditations and clairvoyant readings.
